GENERAL INFORMATION

History
As a unit of Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, School of Tourism and Hotel Management was legally established with an announcement in the Official Gazette dated 23.03.2012 and the Ministerial Council Decision No. 2012/2879. The University which is located in İstiklal Campus (Örtülü Location) that is near the highway of Burdur-Antalya has been in service since April, 2012.
The school consists of the following 3 departments;
• Hospitality Management,
• Travel Management and Tourist Guiding,
• Gastronomy and Culinary Arts.

Mission
Tourism has a very important place in terms of our country, as known. According to World Tourism Organization’s report of 2012, Turkey is one of the top 10 countries of world tourism ranking list which is considered as the first league of world tourism. In this context, the country takes the 6th place in terms of tourist arrivals and the 12th place in receipts. In order to protect and maintain this important potential obtained in tourism, educating the qualified individuals is the most important mission in terms of our school. Based on this idea, the school aims to provide scientific and practical professional knowledge and ability to its students. Moreover, producing scientific knowledge and training qualified individuals are the key points of our mission.

Vision
The vision of the School of Tourism and Hotel Management is being a leader educational institution which is researcher, open to innovations, in constant interaction with the sector, recognized in academia due to the scientific researches and open to development.
